Introducing Blackbird Market - live bands, hot DJ sets, fashion, art, jewellery, design, vintage and awesome food and drinks all in the one indoor marketplace in the trendy city precinct of Brunswick St, Fitzroy (at the Newtown Worker's Club).

My good friend Courtney and I have been working our tushes off to get this thing off the ground so it would be awesome if you live in Melbourne, if you could join us on our Facebook page and help spread the word. We're currently recruiting stallholders for our launch market on Saturday December 5th!

Our official website will launch in the next few days but in the meantime we're getting our FB and Twitters up and running.

very enjoyable twin cat shoot today, and should be just as enjoyable tomorrow! here is alisha, just chillin in versace as you do.

been a busy week; went to tony mott's (hero) slide night, which was really fantastic - what an amazing and remarkable guy. his photography itself isn't overwhelming like the world of say, fashion, but the legacy he has built is truly inspiring. and he's so down to earth and friendly too!
store opening for release the hounds on smith st was great fun. i was the event photog and probably partook in way more free cocktails than what is usually deemed "professional" haha, but lots of fun and i finally met katy steele who is a personal heroine of mine. she was lovely too!
the clothes were cute and their vintage range impressive.

we launched www.twincatvintage.com tonight, so very exciting.
ps. i'm so obsessed with so you think you can dance, hehe. i love tabitha and napolean so much! =)

for someone studying photography, it's a bit ridiculous how FEW photos i have of nic and i. we've been together a year and a half now and i think i only have two nice photos of us. so i am quite happy about this one, it was taken on saturday before his sister's wedding, which we attended up on the sunny sunshine coast. talk about humidity plus! i can't stand it when its too hot and neither can nic, but whenever we weren't complaining about the heat and mugginess, we were enjoying ourselves at what was a lovely ceremony.

the weekend was great - we stayed in absolutely divine apartments and even though we were on a mini-holiday we managed to watch the entire of season 4 entourage, hehe. lots of drinking though, we couldnt get through everything we bought so the housekeeper will get a lovely bonus as we left a full fridge behind!

we stayed up til 5am watching rage as the boys were guest programmers. pretty funny, they made some excellent choices... twin peaks theme song anyone??

i have my fine art assessment tomorrow - my last one ever! then on thursday is our industry opening night for the grad exhibition, and then friday night is our family/friends opening night. i am nervous, i am yet to see the finished prints but they are two metres long each. probably the biggest i have ever printed work! so fingers crossed that they look awesome tomorrow when i go in to collect them.

anyway, i am dead tired now and i havent washed my hair for four days... its now officially disgusting. hope you're all well!! xo

okay here is an update. i realise it's been awhile since i posted photos but here are some ones i have taken recently, two weddings, both of which were fantastic and i enjoyed myself and learnt a lot too.

i plan on "making the switch" to "proper" blogging soon but first i have to figure out how to make layouts for blogger and all that other jargon. does my head in. regardless i also hope to figure out livejournal syndication so my whole livejournal thing doesn't have to die. i have been on here for quite some time actually, it's a bit scary to look back and see just how much of your life has been shared in public.

ANYWAY, i finished uni for the year and am just about to finish my entire fine art degree, scary. all that will be left is my arts degree, so next year it looks like i'll be doing a lot of reading and writing! i will finish my major in journalism, my minor in literature and hopefully supplement my degree with visual culture classes. i have an exam on friday, of which i am STILL reading the texts for, and we have our grad show soon, so anyone in melbourne feel free to come along to our exhibition.

the arias were on the weekend, unfortunately nic didn't win their award (they were beaten by gurrumbul, the blind aboriginal dude) but that's okay because it was a very deserving winner i think. NOT deserving on the other hand was gabriella fucking cilmi. really disappointed in her clean sweep, basically because she is a pretty girl with a great voice but nothing else. at least when delta and missy and so forth have won they are incredibly multi-talented. not necessarily my cup of tea, but i understand the validity in their wins. cilmi on the other hand has only released two singles, i mean come on. it's quite clear that she's too young to even be hands-on in the promotion and business side of her work. but i suppose it just shows what a very commercial awards ceremony it is and british india should be stoked to have even been nominated amongst such a mainstream crowd. i could probably rave on and on about the state of the music industry haha but i won't..

today we fucked around in the lighting studio for ages and it was great fun.

i'm finally beginning to feel more relaxed using all the different lights and flashes, which is cool. i cant wait to be able to afford my own kit. its funny i used to be obsessed with processing my own films and printing things by hand and now im like digital-digital-digital (bobby digital). i guess bill henson does it now SO!

i've been working on a rock eisteddfod all year with my sister's school, and my mum did all the costumes. anyway on thursday we won the victorian open grand final! after 8 years of being involved in it, it was refreshing to finally place first!

what else is news..
well, british india got nominated for this year's ARIAs! which is tres exciting. their album is nominated for best independent release and it was nominated for producer of the year too. nic's in the UK right now, and i am here being very jealous.

and im shooting a wedding next weekend, i am very nervous. more nervous about organising meetings and stuff actually, than taking the photos themselves. i'm going to buy a new lens and some extra stuff, it's a good excuse to be able to do so.

is anybody else as dorky as me and enjoy playing old gameboy roms on their computer?
anyway, i just downloaded a mac emulator which works great, but am struggling to find a working pokemon rom. i got a fantastic red fire pokemon one, but it freezes constantly. any other internerds out there who can send me a pokemon rom? dont care which version i just like playing.

in other news... my braces fucking hurt. i haven't eaten anything for like three days now... this might be the most effective diet ever.

EDIT fuck the pokemon rom, i just nicked my little sister's gameboy colour which conveniently had pokemon gold. now i can play pokemon on the go bitccheeesssss! oh, and in an effort to encourage my sudden interest in gaming (how fucking asian am i becoming? i ate a freaking bento box last week!), nic bought me a pokemon t-shirt.

this motherfucking bitchin babar cake i made yesterday to take to a babar party that we had. upon inspection of the photo, his trunk kinda looks real phallic hey. anyway, no better way to spend a saturday night than babar drinking games. (fyi, we got through 3 hours of babar mania, and had to drink everytime: cornelius said "my tusks!", pompodour panicked, young babar was a douche bag, old babar narrated a flashback, lady rataxas said "ohh rataxas!!!" and everytime rataxas said "BASILLLLLL!". this equaled a lot of drinking by the way.)

today i'm gonna do some collage work for my art project. and tomorrow: i get braces. i've only been putting it off for like, a hundred years, but oh well the time has come.

today i did a shoot with my friend and favourite person to photograph, mardi. it was a simple black backdrop setup with no real purpose so it was kind of just for fun. haven't edited these at all yet, they're just the raw image files so hopefully they will look even better, but even so, she's such a fox that she looks great already!
